Making a Bedroom Window Private Without Curtains

When trying to decide on a window covering I wanted something that would cover the window, be pretty and still keep some light out, also that the cat couldn't grab when she tries to jump into the window.  Finally settled on black lace.

Before with Curtains

Word of advice would be to use a pattern of the window. I did not, and thought getting away with just measuring would be okay. Ha!Ha!Ha! As you can tell that did not turn out so well. Also it wasn't quite dark enough and so decided to add another layer. Still did not use a pattern to cut out the lace.

Adding another layer takes a lot more cornstarch paste than it should. One good thing though is that it acts like a layer of insulation. Before the lace and cornstarch layer the windows would get frosty and have moisture on them. Last winter it took weeks of below zero weather for them to get a little frost in the corners. That definitely made me happy. FYI according to the tags those windows aren't that old either.

The Final Product
This is what they look like after the second lace coating.
